We install straight, winder, two-quarter winder, two-quarter landing or double-winder staircases as well as those in half-landing, curved or spiral designs. All work is undertaken by experienced carpenters and joiners to ensure alignment, regulatory compliance and safety.
Measurements are taken to include floor-to-ceiling and floor-to-wall heights, and the apron-to-wall dimensions of the stairwell. Designs can be tailored to specific interior styles and the common materials used for timber staircases are hardwoods, such as oak, and softwoods to include hemlock and pine. Glass and metal work best for a modern specification. The design accounts for safety and also for lighting.
We use advanced software to render 3D photorealistic images of how a staircase will look once fitted, presented as a virtual walkthrough.
Old staircases will be dismantled and then removed, and a check of a staircase’s structural support will be made alongside modifications if they are needed. Risers and treads are secured to stringers, and angle blocks are positioned to stop squeaking. Minor adjustments can be made for accuracy before fitting handrails, posts and spindles.
Head clearances of at least 2m are included for safety, and we offer impressive lead times of as few as 3 weeks from the initial survey.
